Bodhi is waiting and ready, as planned with the jet, so when Bucky steps in, he's already closing the ramp and starting to pull away. Then they're picking up speed as they take off into the altitude.
As per usual, he doesn't consider it a success until they're well off and away, focus and tension still keeping him rigid in the seat until Bucky slides into the seat next to him. He drops his shoulders, relaxing an inch or two - but hands are still tight on the controls. The radio buzzes, and he picks it up, to report the extraction went off as planned. No hitches.
Thankfully. He heaves a sigh, hanging up.
Bucky saves him the trouble of reminding him to buckle up, and Bodhi shakes his head. "You mean you don't love this? Could have fooled me." He raises a brow. "Any unexpected trouble?"
“Oh, don’t get me wrong. I love running missions, especially if I get to have a little bit of fun along the way. Bonus if you’re picking me up cause Johnson ain’t a fan of talking — the guy straight up ignored everything I said off report last time! Seriously! What the hell! — but man the logistics on this baby were off the charts. Too much to keep track of that I don’t usually gotta do. I may as well have been running the damn thing, even if that ain’t my actual job to.”
As usual, Bucky could easily be both sides of the conversation himself, but he does ease off a bit to answer the other question, the actually probably might be important and relevant to the job question. “No trouble though. Unless you count a bird leaving a nice package along the middle of my rifle before I finished packing up.” Which is clearly unexpected trouble in Bucky’s book, but their superiors probably wouldn’t quite agree with that one.
sorry abt the delay!
